2004. The best thing to come out of 2004 were jams out of Piper, the boys produced some of the better post Hiatus jams during the first leg of the 2004 summer tour. Phish began 2004 with a three show run in Vegas, and didn't sound like the Phish of 2003. The boys were rusty, and it showed. June of 2004 was the peak of the year; highlights include a monster Moma Dance -> Free from 06/17, a half hour Piper from 06/19, an experimental 2nd set on 06/20, and solid shows on 06/24 and 06/26. August of 2004 was a different story; the music speaks for itself, like a relative who was in the late stages of deteriorating disease, the band was finally put to rest on 08/15. The Curtain (with) encore is all one needs to hear to understand why the band called a quits.
